About Diane Wingerson

- D.K. Wingerson, Author -

Over 20 years ago, along with my husband and son, I traded cold Iowa winters and humid summers for the beautiful Arizona desert.

Having a mom who was a teacher, I've been an avid reader for as long as I can remember.  I enjoy classics and autobiographies with an occasional mystery or romance novel thrown in the mix.

Since becoming a grandmother, I've read my share of children's books, so when I started to write I found myself leaning into that genre.

My grandson is on the autism spectrum, and the things he's achieved in his life leave me in awe.  He has confidence, he participates in school activities, as well as extracurricular activities.  He epitomizes courage, constantly putting fears aside to embrace new challenges.

My debut children's book, Gary Greenbird Learns To Fly, was written with the hope that even one child or adult will discover they can achieve anything they put their mind to.

My message is simple:  Believe in yourself, prepare yourself and face your fears.
